Dobrodiyka Jeannette Rauliuk Obituary
Dobrodiyka Jeannette Diane Rauliuk passed away June 9, 2024 at the Riverview Health Center at the age of 76 years.
Jeannette was born in Shoal Lake, Manitoba on September 12, 1947 to Anthony (Tony) Slon and Winnifred (nee Baubie). Raised in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, she attended Oakburn High School and graduated from Marvel College of Cosmetology.
On September 17, 1966 she was united in marriage to Nicholas Orest Rauliuk. Four children were born to them, Taras, Nicholai, Nadia and Tanya.
Throughout her life she worked as a hair stylist and esthetician, a teacher’s aide in the Alberta Ukrainian Bilingual Program, she owned and operated a Personal Care Home in Yorkton, Saskatchewan together with her husband for 10 years, she was Doborodiyka in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, a Cantor in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada and a homemaker.
Her achievements throughout her time in parishes of the communities which her husband served include a 50 year pin and certificate of the Ukrainian Women’s Associate of Canada, 100 Anniversary Centenary Award of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, honored to be appointed “Hospidinya” (HOSTESS) Of Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin, Manitoba and numerous certificates of Excellence from: parishes across Canada, Choirs across Canada and most recently Western Eparchy Bishop’s Certificate.
Her activities include and are not limited to ardently supporting the Ukrainian Community especially the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada as a Dobordiyka, singing in every Church Choir across Canada including Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival Choir and the Millenium Ukrainian Orthodox Choir of Roblin, Parishes her husband served, holding Executive positions in the Ukrainian Women’s Association, serving as Youth Church Camp Advisor in all the Parish Church Camps, organizing and coordinating many functions, such as : St. Nicholas, Mothers Day, Taras Shevchenko Concerts, providing instruction in Sunday School, Ukrainian Language, Embroidery and Easter Egg writing. With devotion and dedication she worked with all individuals from Youth to Seniors in all the parishes across Canada. She was her husband’s sole confidant. She was everything to me.
She is predeceased by her parents Tony and Winnifred, brother Arnold, nephew Travis Slon, brother in law Walter Manulak, parents in law John and Ahafia Rauliuk
Jeannette is survived by her husband, her children Taras (Tracy), Nicholai (Tatyana), Nadia (Jim) and Tanya (Jonathan), her grandchildren Nicholas, Lucas & Taras, Larisa, Samantha, Tony and Mabelle, Raisa (James), Anthony, Joseph and Markian, Tatyana, Orest, Nicholai and William (Jazzmin) and great grandchildren Oliver and Ryker, Ava and Abigail, sisters Evangeline Manulak of Winnipeg and Darusia (Mark) Comeau of Winnipeg and brother David (Cecilia) Slon of Brandon.
