On Sunday, June 21, 2026, His Eminence, Metropolitan Ilarion, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, made an archpastoral visit to St. Elia in Edmonton, Alberta, where he presided at the Divine Liturgy.

Concelebrating with His Eminence was Rev. Fr. Vasyl Maskal and Protodeacon Yaroslav Boychuk. The faithful gathered in prayer to welcome their Metropolitan.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence recognized the dedicated pastoral ministry and faithful service of Fr. Vasyl Maskal by bestowing upon him the right to wear the gold pectoral cross, a significant clerical distinction within the life of the Church.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a fellowship meal was held in the parish hall, where clergy, parishioners, family, and guests gathered to celebrate this joyous occasion and offer congratulations.
