(Kyiv, 15 February 2022) Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Greets Locum Tenens of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada on the Occasion of His 50th Birthday

His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphaniy of Kyiv and All-Ukraine, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, from himself and on behalf of the plenitude of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, sent a letter of greeting to His Grace Bishop Ilarion of Edmonton and Locum Tenens of the Metropolitan Cathedral, on the occasion of his 50th birthday, celebrated 14 February 2022.

In addition to expressing warm and heart-felt greetings on the occasion of His Grace’s jubilee, His Beatitude also wrote,

“… as a hierarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchal Throne, you offered tremendous efforts toward the realization of the longtime dream of our people – that the Local Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Ukraine would rise united, equal in honour, and autocephalous within the family of Sister Churches of worldwide Orthodoxy.

And at present, the responsibility of the Locum Tenens of the Metropolitan Throne of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada has been laid upon you. We express our hope that you will carry this ecclesiastical obedience with success, and we assure you – though we be separated by earthly distance – we shall remain united in our love for God, the Church and Ukraine. You may, therefore, count on our fraternal support and cooperation always.”
