On June 15, 2023, a vehicle collision between a Handi-Transit bus from Dauphin, MB and a semi-truck occurred on the Trans-Canada Highway in the Municipality of North Cypress – Langford near Carberry, Manitoba, Canada, killing fifteen people and injuring ten others.

His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion, on behalf of the Hierarchs, Consistory Board, Clergy and Faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada expresses condolences to the families of those killed in this tragedy.  Further, he expresses prayerful support for the injured, asking our Heavenly Father to grant them healing and strength.

Some of those injured and some who died were part of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, St. George’s Parish and Community, in Dauphin, MB.

Prayers of gratitude are extended to the First Responders, Police, Paramedics, STARS and Firefighters who responded to scene.  Prayers of support are extended to the parish priest, Fr. Brent Kuzyk and the parishioners as they come together to mourn, to support, and to help all those affected by this tragedy.
