For Orthodox Christians the Lenten period, that is, the journey to Pascha and the Resurrection of Christ, is liturgically rich and spiritually edifying.

We have experienced the wondrous and sanctifying events of the season of “God is with us.” Through the eyes of faith, made clear by our liturgical life, we have stood at the cave and received the Light of Lights emanation from it.

Yet again this year, through the God-inspired words, the holy Psalmist ushers the Orthodox faithful into the “mystery” of Holy and Great Lent, pointing out the benevolence of the Lord and the workings thereof as he cries out, the Lord works mercy and righteousness for all the oppressed (Psalm 102:6). For the Lord satisfies our desire with good things so that our youth is renewed like that of the eagle (c.f. 5).

Свята Православна Церква в своїй материнській турботі про спасіння людей, відкриває нам велику таємницю народження Месії-Христа і вказує нам шлях, йдучи яким ми зможемо удостоїтись того, щоб народжений від Діви Христос Спаситель народився і в наших серцях.

В сиву давнину ці слова були донесені до людей, які жили у тривозі, страсі та відчаю, людей позбавлених упевненості, безпеки та присутності Божої. Ми чуємо ці слова на початку Різдва, забуваючи про те, що вперше вони пролунали сотні років перед тим, як ми почали святкувати Різдво. По цілому світові людство і досі не усвідомлює цієї очевидної та діючої Божої істини.

На 5-го грудня за григоріянським календарем (це – 22-го листопада за юліянським) ми святкуємо пам’ять княжого Мученика Київської Русі, Св. Князя Ярополка, сина Великого Князя Київського, Ізяслава, внука Св. Ярослава Мудрого

На 3-го червня за григоріянським календарем (це 21-го травня заюліянським) ми святкуємо пам’ять Муромських Чудотворців, Св. Князя Ярослава і його синів, Михаїла й Теодора.

На 25-го жовтня за григоріанським календарем (це - 12-го жовтня за юліанським) ми святкуємо пам'ять Св. Вилфрида, який тримав пост Архієпископа Йоркського, другий найвищий пост після Архієпископа Кентерберійського в Англійській Церкві
