Today, on the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church at Sich-Kolomea, marking the 100th anniversary of the parish.
His Eminence was joined by clergy from the Western, Central, and Eastern Eparchies of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada: Chancellor of the UOCC, Mitred Archpriest Cornell Zubritsky, Rt. Rev. Protopresbyter Stephen Semotiuk, who grew up in the parish and was ordained here, Mitred Archpriest Mykola Sawchenko, former parish priest, Mitred Archpriest Slawomir Lomaszkiewicz, former parish priest, Mitred Archpriest Gene Maximiuk, former parish priest, Archpriest Victor Lomaszkiewicz, Archpriest Vasyl Sapiha, Archpriest Peter Haugen, Archpriest Roman Shiyan, Priest Yuri Suchevan, Priest Vasyl Maskal, Priest Evan Panchuk, current parish priest, Protodeacon Yaroslav Boychuk, Protodeacon Anton Lakusta.
Before the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence was warmly welcomed by the children of the parish, who greeted him by scattering flower petals, as well as by parish president Roman Charuk.
The celebration was a joyful gathering of clergy and faithful, bringing together those who have served this historic parish in the past and those who continue its ministry today.
For 100 years, St. Mary’s at Sich-Kolomea has remained a place of prayer, faith, Ukrainian heritage, and community. As the parish celebrates this remarkable milestone on its patronal feast, we give thanks to God for the generations who have built, served, and sustained this community, and we pray for His continued blessing upon the parish for generations to come.
