Дорогі отці , возлюблені браття і сестри!
З ласки Божої, на цьому тижні ми будемо святкувати велике свято – Покрова Пресвятої Богородиці. Свято Покрови Пресвятої Богородиці займає особливе місце в житті нашого благочестивого українського народу з давніх давен. Наші гетьмани і славне українське козацтво засновуючи Запорозьку Січ, щоб обороняти від ворогів рідну землю і народ, перш за все там зводили храм, а потім вже будували для проживання і оборони всі інші будівлі і споруди. Церква була у центрі в Січі, а навколо все інше. Першою церквою побудованою в 1576 році на Запорізькій Січі був храм Покрови Пресвятої Богородиці.
Сотні храмів в Україні, а також багато храмів де проживає українська діаспора у всьому світі присвячені Покрову Матері Божої. Не виняток є і гостинна канадська земля, де наші благочестиві прабатьки можливо матеріально бідні, але духовно багаті, збудували і присвятили Покрову Пресвятої Богородиці храми від Квебеку до Британської Колумбії .
Наш благочестивий український народ на протязі віків завжди покладав надію на поміч Бога і Покров Божої Матері, а особливо посилював свої молитви в часи недолі і війн. 2022 рік став надзвичайно важким і трагічним для всіх українців в Україні і по всьому світі. Воєнна агресія Росії проти України принесла смерть і терор, страждання і біль на українську землю. Наш український народ ні на кого не нападав, але змушений захищати свою землю, свої дома і свої родини. Тисячі українських воїнів з жертовної любові до рідної землі і народу стали на захист своєї Вітчизни. « Ніхто більшої любові від тієї немає, як хто душу свою покладає за друзів своїх» ( Ів 15:13).
Кожного року, 14 жовтня, Україна святкує також державне свято – захисника Вітчизни. На основі столітніх благочестивих козацьких традицій, особливого заступництва і Покрова Пресвятої Богородиці над українським козацтвом, наш український народ і в 21 віці агностицизму і безбожництва вбачає важливим і необхідним, щоб захисники землі української були під Покровом Матері Божої.
Дорогі отці, браття і сестри,
Благословляю і прошу всіх вас, в день свята Покрова Пресвятої Богородиці де є можливість чи наступну неділю в усіх храмах УПЦК, а хто не може по стану здоров’я у своїх домівках, піднести особливо ревні молитви за Україну і її захисників, за перемогу над ворогами і встановлення справедливого миру і скорого закінчення війни. Щоб Пресвята Покрова Богородиця покрила Своїм чесним омофором українську землю , щоб скорому часі не гинули найкращі сини і дочки її захищаючи рідну землю і родини не оплакували смерті своїх рідних і близьких. Наш Спаситель Господь Ісус Христос сказав: « Де Я, там слуга мій буде» ( Ів 12:26). Ми повинні знати, що заступництвом Матері Божої, ця зла і диявольська війна припиниться, зло ніколи не переможе добро, темрява не переможе світло.
«Милосердя двері відкрий нам, Благословенна Богородиця, щоб ми, на Тебе надіючись не загинули, а від усякого лиха Тобою визволилися. Бо ти є спасіння роду християнського».
«Все уповання на Тебе покладаєм, Мати Божа, збережи Україну під Покровом Твоїм. Пресвятая Богородице, спаси нас!»

Dear fathers, beloved brothers and sisters!
By the grace of God, we will celebrate a great feast this week — The Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos. Since ancient times, the Feast of The Protection of The Most Holy Theotokos has been significant in the life of pious Ukrainian people. Our Hetmans and the glorious Ukrainian Cossacks founded and developed the “Zaporizhkiy Sich” fortress in order to defend their native land and people from enemies. First and foremost, they built a temple there and surrounded it with other buildings and structures to create a dwelling place and a place of defense. The Church was in the center of the Sich fortifications and everything else was built around her. The first Church built in the “Zaporozhkiy Sich” was in 1576 and was the Church of The Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos.
Hundreds of Churches in Ukraine, as well as many Churches in the Ukrainian diaspora worldwide are dedicated to the Protection of The Most Holy Theotokos. The hospitable land of Canada is no exception. Our pious forefathers were materially poor but spiritually rich and built and dedicated temples to the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos all across Canada, from Quebec to British Columbia.
Throughout the ages, our pious Ukrainian people have always relied on the help of God and the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos and offered their fervent prayers to them especially in times of misfortune and wars. The year 2022 has become extremely difficult and tragic for all Ukrainians, both in Ukraine and around the world. Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine has brought death and terror, suffering and pain to the Ukrainian land. Our Ukrainian people did not attack anyone, but are forced to defend their land, their homes, and their families. Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers stand up to defend their Fatherland out of sacrificial love for their native land and its people. Indeed, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13)
Every year on October 14, Ukraine also celebrates the national holiday of the defenders of her Fatherland. Based on the centuries-old pious Cossack tradition of the special Protection of the Holy Theotokos over the Ukrainian Cossacks, our Ukrainian people still continue to do so. Even now, in the 21st century, which is marked by the rise of agnosticism and atheism in the world, the need and importance of the actions of the defenders of Ukrainian lands remains under the steadfast Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos.
Dear fathers, brothers and sisters,
I bless and direct all of you, that on the day of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, either on the exact day if possible, or on the following Sunday, all the Churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada offer fervent prayers for Ukraine and her defenders, for victory over the enemies and the establishment of a just peace and an early end of the war. Likewise, those who cannot attend Church due to the state of their health do so in their homes. May the Most Holy Theotokos cover the entire Ukrainian land with her blessed omophorion so that her best sons and daughters do not die defending their native land, and so that families do not mourn the death of their relatives and loved ones. Our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, said: “Where I am, there my servant will be.” (John 12:26) We must know that with the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos this evil and diabolic war will end because evil will never win over good, and darkness will never triumph over light.
“ Open for us the door of loving-kindness, O Blessed Theotokos, that we who have hope in You may not perish, but through You, may be delivered from all adversity, for You are the salvation of Christian people.”
“All our hope we place in You, O Mother of God. Keep Ukraine under Your protection. Most-Holy Theotokos, save us.”
