БЛАЖЕННИЙ НАРОД, ЩО ЗНАЄ ВІН ПОКЛИК СВЯТКОВИЙ!

——— Щасливі ми, що маємо і передання і віру на цей святковий поклик! Не так легко його видавати цими днями коли війна (наслідок жорстокости та ненависти, які тривають століттями) спустошує частину того континенту, з якого більшість із нас походимо. Ми чуємось такими безсилими бачачи картини руїн по телебаченні та в пресі. Ми вірно й зрозуміло відчуваємо, що так не мало б бути. Такі ж надії пробудила весна, упадок комуністичної імперії. Чому ж після такої весни ще не прийшло літо справедливости та спокою? Чому ж далі так багато терпіння, болю та вигуків розпуки? ———-

Христос Воскрес! Воістину Воскрес!

Знову й знову лунає цей радісний поклик у ці світлі дні Христового Преславного Воскресення – Пасхи, переходу від смерти до життя. Він Своєю смертю на Хресті переміг смерть! Вже більше немає мертвих! Усі живі в Бозі – в Джерелі всього життя!

Ми чуємось такими безсилими бачачи картини руїн по телебаченні та в пресі. Ми вірно й зрозуміло відчуваємо, що так не мало б бути. Такі ж надії пробудила весна, упадок комуністичної імперії. Чому ж після такої весни ще не прийшло літо справедливости та спокою? Чому ж далі так багато терпіння, болю та вигуків розпуки?

Ми віримо, що Бог Всемогутній, отож до Нього й звертаємо свої скарги. Чи чує Він їх? Чому ж не робить Він нічого, щоб покласти край цим жахам? Чому, Господи? Це – оклик, який лунає по сторінках псальмів. Це й оклик,якого ми недавно чули з Хреста, від Розп’ятого на ньому.

Але ж і інший оклик чули ми з Хреста також – оклик переможний: “Завершилось!” Так, усе завершилось! Ісус помер. Він обняв цього ворога, що зараз танцює в Європі та в інших зболілих місцях по світі. І обнявши його Він знищив його. Чи краще Він перетворив його. Перед Ним ми не могли знайти гідного значіння терпінь людського роду та всього створення. Після ж Розп’яття ми можемо дивитися на все страждання, як частину Його страждань – страждань, які завершились неочікуваною перемогою – Воскресінням!

Псальмопівець написав: “Блаженний народ, що знає він поклик святковий,-Господи, вони ходять у світлі обличчя Твого! Радіють вони цілий день Твоїм Іменням, і підвищуються Твоєю справедливістю, бо окраса їхньої сили – то Ти” (Псалом 88:16-18). Що це за поклик святковий? Ясна річ: ми його знову віднайшли сьогодні. Він – ХРИСТОС ВОСКРЕС! ВОІСТИНУ ВОСКРЕС!

Ми в Розп’яттю й Воскресінню Ісуса ясно побачили Лице Боже! Бог страждає з нами і з нами встає! Ми страждаємо і встаємо з Ним! Нарешті – справедливість і підстава радости! А двері до цього відкриває нам ВІРА! Наша віра походить від нашої традиції, яка дала її середник дійти до нас. Але ця віра також походить від Духа Святого, якого послав нам Господь Ісус від Отця Свого після Його Вознесіння.

Слава Богу, що відкрив нам ці двері. Якщо в нас не вистарчає віри, не стримуймось через це – все одно долучімось до цього поклику святкового. Бо ж ось причина, чому блаженний народ, що знає його: Бог же пробуває в цьому поклику. Викликуймо з надією, зі смиренням, незламно. Будьмо послушні спразі, як нас заставляє шукати за добром, істиною та справедливістю. Викликуймо ще сильніше: Христос Воскрес! Дивіться, як вороги: страх, розпач, ненависть зникають від нього, як туман зникає від сонечка, що встає щоранку – навіть і тоді, коли ми його через хмари не бачимо. Христос воістину Воскрес! Розп’ятий таки переміг!

 

BLESSED ARE THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE FESTAL SHOUT!

Christ is Risen! He is truly Risen!

Again and again we hear the joyous cry during these bright days of Christ’s Radiant Resurrection – Pascha, the Passover from death to life. He conquered death by His death upon the Cross! No one is dead any more! All are alive in God – the Source of all life.

Happy are we who have the tradition and faith to make this shout! It is a challenge to do it these days when a war (the result of cruelty and hatred which have lasted for centuries) ravages a part of the continent from which most of us hail. It is so frustrating to see the images of destruction on the television and the press. We feel that it ought not to be so! After all the hopes that were awakened by the fall of the Soviet empire! Why, after such a marvelous spring, has the summer of justice and peace not arrived? Why is there still all this suffering, this pain, these cries of despair?

We believe that God is Almighty, so it is to Him that we direct our complaints. Is He listening? Why does He not act to put an end to these horrors? Why, Lord? This is a cry which echoes across the pages of the Psalms. A cry which we have heard recently from the Cross, from the Crucified.

But we have heard another cry from the Cross as well – a cry of triumph: “It is finished!” Everything has been accomplished. Jesus has died. He embraced this enemy that is dancing in Europe and the other trouble spots of the world. And with this embrace He killed it. Or better He transformed it. Before Him we could not find any meaning worthy of the suffering of humanity and all creation. After the Crucifixion we can view all suffering as a part of His suffering, a suffering crowned by the unexpected victory of the Resurrection!

The Psalmist wrote: “Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O Lord in the light of Thy countenance, who exult in Thy name all the day, and extol Thy righteousness” (Psalm 88:15-6, Revised Standard Version). What is this festal shout? We have discovered it again today: CHRIST IS RISEN! HE IS TRULY RISEN!

In the Crucifixion and the Resurrection of Jesus we have clearly seen the Face of God! God suffers with us and rises with us! We suffer and rise with Him! At last – justice. Reason for jubilation! The door which opens the way to this is FAITH! Our faith comes from our tradition which has provided vessels for it to reach us. But it comes also from the Holy Spirit sent to us by Jesus from His Father after His Ascension.

Glory to God Who has opened this door for us. If we find ourselves lacking in this faith, let us not hesitate for that reason to join in the festal shout. For here is the reason why the people who know it are blessed: God dwells in this shout! Let us cry out with hope, with humility, with perseverence. Let us obey this thirst which makes us look for goodness, truth and justice. Let us cry all the louder: Christ is Risen!See how the enemies: fear, despair, hatred disappear like the mist before the bright Sun which rises each morning without fail, even if we do not always see it. Christ is truly Risen! The Crucified has triumphed!

 

HEUREUX LE PEUPLE QUI SAIT L’ACCLAMATION: LE CRUCIFIÉ A VAINCU!

Le Christ est Ressuscité! Il est vraiment Ressuscité!

Encore et encore nous entendons ce cri joyeux en ces jours brillants de la Fête de la Résurrection Lumineuse de notre Sauveur Jésus, le Messie. Il a vaincu la mort par Sa mort sur la Croix! Il ne reste aucun mort! Tous sont vivants en Dieu, Qui est vraiment la Source de toute Vie.

Heureux sommes nous d’avoir la tradition et la foi de faire ce cri! Il est difficile d’en faire en ces jours quand une guerre (résultat de la cruauté et la haine qui depuis des centaines d’années) ravage le continent d’où la plupart de nous vient. Il est frustrant de voir les images de destruction à la télé et dans la presse. Nous sentons profondément que cela ne doit pas être ainsi. Et pourquoi après tous les espoirs que nous avons placés dans un printemps de justice et d’harmonie après la chûte de l’empire soviétique, sommes-nous si déçus? Pourquoi l’été ne vient pas? Pourquoi encore de la souffrance, des douleurs, des cris de désespoir?

Sachant que Dieu est tout-puissant nous dirigeons notre plainte vers le Plus-Haut. Est-ce qu’Il nous entend? Pourquoi n’agit-Il pas pour mettre fin à ces horreurs? Pourquoi, Seigneur? Un cri qui sonne dans les pages des Psaumes souvent. Un cri que nous avons entendus dernièrement de la Croix, du Crucifié.

Mais de cette Croix nous avons aussi entendu le cri de triomphe: “Il est accompli!” Tout est accompli! Jésus est mort. Il a embrassé cet ennemi qui danse maintenant en Europe et dans les autres pays troublés du monde. Il l’a embrassé, et par cette embrasement, Il l’a tué! En effet Il a transformé la mort. Avant Lui nous ne pouvions trouver aucune signification digne à la souffrance de la création. Aprés la Crucifixion nous pouvons regarder toute souffrance comme partie de Sa souffrance, une souffrance qui est couronnée par une victoire inattendue, la Résurrection!

Le psalmiste écrit: “Heureux le peuple qui sait l’acclamation, Yahvé, à la clarté de Ta Face ils iront; en Ton Nom ils jubilent tout le jour, en Ta justice ils s’exaltent” (Psaume 88:16, Traduction: L’École biblique de Jérusalem). Quelle est cette acclamation? Nous l’avons trouvée aujourd’hui: LE CHRIST EST RESSUSCITÉ! IL EST VRAIMENT RESSUSCITÉ!

Dans la Crucifixion et la Résurrection de Jésus nous voyons clairement la Face de Dieu! Dieu souffre avec nous et Il Se lève avec nous! Voici la justice enfin. Voici la raison pour la jubilation. Et la porte qui ouvre cette vérité pour nous est la foi! Notre foi vient de notre tradition qui construit les vaisseaux pour lui. Mais elle vient aussi du Saint Esprit envoyé par Jésus de Son Père après Son Ascension.

Gloire à Dieu Qui nous a ouvert cette porte! Si nous en trouvons un manque, n’ hésitons pas à nous joindre à l’acclamation quand même. Pourquoi le peuple qui le sait, est-il heureux? Parceque Dieu habite dans cette acclamation! Faisons-la avec espoir, avec humilité, avec diligence. Obéissons la soif qui nous pousse à chercher le bien, la vérité, la justice. Crions encore plus fort: Christ est Ressuscité! Voyons comment les ennemis: la crainte, la désespoir, la haine disparaissent comme la brume devant le Soleil brillant qui se lève chaque matin sans faute, même si nous ne le voyons pas. Christ est vraiment Ressuscité. Le Crucifié a vaincu!
