ЧИ ВІРУЄТЕ, ЩО Я МОЖУ ЦЕ ЗРОБИТИ?

Пишу це останнє роздумування, як Настоятель нашої Громади Святої Софії, Божої Премудрості, на нашій Оселі біля Сант Теодор де Чертсі. Тут вид неба вкритого блискучим раєм зір просто надзвичайний! Світла міста приховують цю славу – а тут її бачиш у всій її величності!

Це чудове творіння нагадує нам про велич Бог, що його створив: наскільки величніший і славніший Той, що все це вчинив. Але Його прекрасне творіння не може все розказати про Нього. Для того, щоб ефективніше передати нам звістку про Себе, Бог прийняв надзвичайний крок Боговтілення. Бог Син, Друга Особа Пресвятої Тройці, стала Людиною -Ісусом з Назарету, Сином Марії, дружини праведного старця Йосипа.

Читаючи Євангелію, котра описує життя, дії та слова Ісуса ми довідуємось багато дечого про те, Ким є Бог. Ми бачимо Його смиренність, Його повагу до людських істот, серед яких Він жив, як один із них – тих, яких Він створив. Наприклад у сьогоднішній Євангелії ми чуємо слова Ісуса звернених до двох сліпців, які були попросили Його дати їм зір. Він їх запитав: “Чи ви віруєте, що Я можу це зробити?”

Уявіть собі! Той, що створив очі – чи не може Він зробити їх видющими? Звичайно, що може! Але Він обмежує Себе. Він приймає обмеження, якого вимагає той другий дар, якого Він дав нам: дар, без якого ми не могли б стати повноцінними людьми. Цей дар – свобода! Ми можемо вибирати: вірити чи не вірити. Він приймає це обмеження, тому що Він нас любить. Повага до свободи улюбленої особи – невідємна частина любові!

Якщо ми стараємось володіти, силувати того, кого ми любимо піддатися нашій волі то це не любов а вимоги нашого “я”! Бог – смиренний. Він нас любить. Він пропонує нам Свою любов і всі її дари а від нас залежить: прийняти чи відкинути. Ми завжди можемо сказати: Так, або Ні – Богу. В дійсності ми це й робимо в кожну хвилину нашого життя.

Сліпці сказали: Так. Ми теж маємо цю можливість сьогодні. Скажімо: Так Ісусові. Даймо Йому любити нас. Даймо Йомуго можливість звільнити нас від страху, упереджень та стереотипів – від тієї смерті, на яку прирікають нас наша гордість та самозосередженість.

Знайдімо справжню свободу: свободу любові. Любові, яка несе з собою обмеження: повагу до улюбленої особи. Любові, яка жертвує собою вільно й радісно, навіть якщо ця радість часами орошена слізьми. Любові, ціль якої зробити нас справді вільними та щасливими істотами. Любові, яка і є ціллю і раєм тих, які вірять і….люблять.

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT I AM ABLE TO DO THIS?

I am writing this last meditation as Pastor of our community of Saint Sophie’s, the Holy Wisdom of God, at our Camp near Saint-Théodore de Chertsey. Here the view of the heavens covered by a brilliant paradise of stars is simply magnificent! The lights of the city hide this glory – here it is visible in all its splendour!

This magnificent creation reminds us of the greatness of the God who created it. How much greater, how much more majestic and splendid is the One Who made all this. But His lovely creation can not tell everything about Him. It was to communicate more effectively that God took the astonishing step of the Incarnation. God the Son, the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity became the Man, Jesus of Nazareth, Son of Mary, the wife of Joseph the Righteous Elder.

As we read the Gospels which describe the life, the actions and the words of Jesus we find out a great deal about God’s character. We see His humility, His respect for human persons, among whom He lived as one of them – one of those which He had created. For example, in today’s Gospel we hear Jesus’ words to the two blind men who had asked Him to give them their sight. He asked them: “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” (Matthew 9:28).

Imagine that! The One Who created eyes – could He not make them see? Of course, He can! But He limits Himself. He accepts the limits demanded by that other precious gift He has given us: the gift without which we could not become persons. The gift of freedom! We can choose to believe or not believe. He accepts these limits because He loves us. Respect is an integral part of love.

If we try to dominate, to force the one we love to submit to our will, this is not love but ego. God is humble. He loves us. He offers us His love and all its treasures. It is up to us to accept or reject them. It is always possible to say Yes or No to God. In fact we do that very thing each moment of our lives.

The blind men said Yes. We, too, have this opportunity today. Let us say Yes to Jesus. Lets let Him love us. Lets let Him free us from our fears, our prejudices and stereotypes – from the death to which ego and pride subject us.

Lets find true freedom – the freedom of love. Love which imposes the limits of respect towards the beloved. Love which makes sacrifices freely and joyfully, even though at times the joy is mingled with tears. Love whose goal is to make us truly free and happy beings. Love which is the destiny and the paradise of those who believe and love.

CROYEZ-VOUS QUE JE PUIS FAIRE CELA?

J’écris cette dernière méditation comme curé de notre communauté de Sainte Sophie à notre Camp tout près de Saint-Théodore de Chertsey. Ici la vue du ciel couvert par le jardin d’astres brillants est magnifique! Dans la ville les lumières obscurent ce panorama. Ici elle est visible dans toute sa splendeur.

Cette création magnifique nous rappelle la grandeur de Dieu, qui l’a créée. Combien plus grand, plus majestueux, plus brillant est Celui qui a tout fait! Mais cette belle création ne peut tout dire au sujet de Lui. C’est pour communiquer dans une façon plus efficace que Dieu a pris l’action étonnante de l’Incarnation. Dieu le Fils, la Second Personne de la Sainte Trinité est devenu homme: Jésus de Nazareth, fils de Marie l’épouse de Joseph, l’aîné juste.

En lisant les Évangiles qui décrivent la vie, les actions et les paroles de Jésus nous découvrons beaucoup au sujet du caractère de Dieu. Nous voyons son humilité, son respect envers les humains parmi lesquels il vivait comme un d’eux, ceux qu’Il a créé. Comme par exemple dans l’Évangile d’aujourd’hui où nous entendons Jésus dire aux aveugles qui l’ont prié de leur donner la vision. Il demandait: “Croyez-vous que Je puis faire cela?” (Matthieu 9:28).

Imaginez! Celui qui a créé les yeux, peut-Il les faire voir? Oui, absolument! Mais Il se limite. Il accepte les limitations qui demande l’autre don précieux qu’Il nous a donné, sans lequel nous ne pourrions être personnes. Ce don est la liberté! Nous pouvons choisir de croire ou de ne pas croire. Il accepte ces limitations parce qu’Il nous aime. Le respect est partie intégrale de l’amour.

Si on essaie de dominer, de forcer quelqu’un à se soumettre à notre volonté, ce n’est pas l’amour – c’est l’égoïsme! Dieu est humble. Il nous aime. Il nous offre Son amour et tous Ses trésors. Il reste à nous de les accepter ou de les rejeter. Oui, il est toujours possible de dire Oui ou Non à Dieu. En effet c’est le choix que nous faisons chaque instant de notre vie.

Les aveugles ont dit Oui. Nous aussi avons cette opportunité aujourd’hui. Disons Oui à Jésus. Laissons Lui nous aimer. Laissons Lui nous libérer de nos craintes, de nos préjugés, de la mort qui est l’égoïsme et l’orgueil.

Trouvons la vraie liberté – la liberté d’amour! L’amour qui pose des limitations de respect envers les bien-aimés. L’amour qui fait des sacrifices librement, joyeusement même si parfois c’est aussi avec des larmes. L’amour qui finit par nous faire des êtres vraiment libres et heureux. L’amour qui est le destin, le paradis de ceux qui croient et qui aiment!
