APPEAL BY METROPOLITAN ILARION REGARDING THE DESTRUCTION OF THE ALL SAINTS CHURCH IN BELLIS, ALBERTA
On behalf of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, I express my sincere condolences to the All Saints parish in Bellis in connection with the fire that caused irreparable damage to the temple and bell tower.
On September 21, a nearly century-old church, where generations of our Orthodox faithful had offered prayers, was looted, set on fire, and unfortunately, completely burned down. The police have already taken action: individuals suspected of committing this crime have been arrested.
The loss of this temple is a great wound not only for this parish, but for our entire Church. After all, All Saints Church was a place where faith and tradition lived, uniting several generations in prayer and service to God.
I call on our clergy and faithful to offer prayers together with the affected parish, that the Lord may comfort its members, strengthen them in faith, and give them the strength to continue their spiritual journey in whatever forms and ways are now available. Let this difficult event also be an opportunity for each of us to show our support.
Let us remember the words of the Apostle Paul: “Rejoice in hope, be patient in affliction, be constant in prayer” (Romans 12:12). We believe that all the saints under whose protection the temple stood will intercede for the community and help them endure this trial.
Let us remain united in prayer, placing our hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

ЗВЕРНЕННЯ МИТРОПОЛИТА ІЛАРІОНА СТОСОВНО РУЙНУВАННЯ ХРАМУ ВСІХ СВЯТИХ У БЕЛЛІС, АЛЬБЕРТА
Від імені Української Православної Церкви Канади висловлюю щирі співчуття громаді Всіх святих у Белліс у зв’язку з пожежею, яка завдала непоправної шкоди храмові та дзвіниці.
21 вересня майже столітня святиня, у якій покоління наших православних вірних возносили молитви, була пограбована, підпалена і, на превеликий жаль, повністю згоріла. Поліція вже вжила заходів: заарештовано осіб, підозрюваних у вчиненні цього злочину.
Втрата цього храму є великою раною не тільки для цієї громади, але й для всієї нашої Церкви. Адже храм Всіх святих був місцем, де жила віра і традиція, що об’єднувала кілька поколінь у молитві й служінні Богові.
Закликаю наше духовенство і вірних піднести молитви разом із постраждалою громадою, щоб Господь утішив її членів, укріпив у вірі та дарував сили продовжити безперервний духовний шлях у тих формах і можливостях, які зараз є. Нехай ця важка подія стане також нагодою для кожного з нас засвідчити свою підтримку.
Пам’ятаймо слова апостола Павла: «У надії тіштеся, у скорботі терпіть, у молитві будьте постійні» (Рим. 12:12). Віримо, що всі святі, під чиїм покровом був храм, заступаються за громаду й допоможуть їм перенести це випробування.
Залишаймося єдині в молитві, покладаючи надію на Господа нашого Ісуса Христа.
