(Edmonton, 03-04 October 2026) His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion Presides over Moleben’ for Members of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada in Alberta on the Occasion of the Organization’s 100th Anniversary
His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Winnipeg, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada (UOCC), at the invitation of the Alberta Provincial Executive of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada (UWAC), presided over a Moleben’ of Thanksgiving at the Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor of St. Andrew the First-called Apostle.
His Eminence raised up prayers of thanks for the dedication and good works of the UWAC throughout the first century of their service to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada. The central role of the service of women throughout the history of Christ’s Holy Church was emphasized in His Eminence’s homily following the Moleben’. His Eminence expressed his hope in the continuing success of the UWAC into the next century of their existence and exhorted the membership to continue their dedication and leadership not only among Ukrainian Orthodox women in Canada, but in the daily life of the UOCC in general.
The Moleben’ of Thanksgiving was part of the culmination of a two-day celebration. A celebratory banquet, featuring a tribute dramatic presentation marking the anniversary, was held at the St. John’s Cultural Centre. Among the guests at the event were Darcia Moskaluk-Rutkay, UWAC National Executive President. Sunday began with Divine Liturgy, the Moleben’ of Thanksgiving and concluded with a fellowship tea dedicated to the jubilee.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada congratulates the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada with this tremendous and historic milestone in the life of our Ukrainian Orthodox community, especially in the history of the unique and dedicated service of our Ukrainian Orthodox women in Canada! We pray that the centuries ahead will witness a renewed membership that will exhibit the same love and determination to support and serve the Body of Christ sojourning in Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada! Високопреосвященніший Митрополит Вінніпезький Іларіон, Предстоятель Української Православної Церкви Канади (УПЦК), на запрошення провінційної управи Союзу Українок Канади («Союзу») в Альберті, очолив Подячний Молебень в Українському Православному соборі св. Апостола Андрія Первозваного.
Владика Митрополит підніс палкі молитви подяки за відданість і добрі справи Союзу протягом першого століття їхнього служіння Українській Православній Церкві в Канаді. У своїй проповіді після Молебню Високопреосвященніший Владика наголосив на важливій ролі жіночого служіння в історії Святої Христової Церкви. Митрополит висловив сподівання на подальші успіхи Союзу в наступному столітті їхнього існування та закликав членкинь і надалі виявляти відданість і лідерські якості не лише серед українських православних жінок Канади, а й у повсякденному житті УПЦК загалом.
Подячний Молебень став частиною кульмінації дводенних святкувань. В суботу ввечері, 3-го жовтня, в Культурному Центрі Св. Івана, відбувся святковий бенкет, під час якого було представлено урочисту театралізовану виставу, присвячену ювілею. Серед гостей заходу була Дарсія Москалюк-Руткай, національна голова Союзу. Недільна програма розпочалася Божественною Літургією та Подячним Молебнем, а завершилася святковим чаюванням з нагоди ювілею.
Українська Православна Церква Канади вітає Союзу Українок Канади з цією визначною історичною віхою в житті нашої української православної спільноти, а особливо — в історії унікального та відданого служіння наших українських православних жінок у Канаді! Ми молимося, щоб прийдешні століття побачили оновлене членство, яке виявлятиме таку ж любов і рішучість підтримувати й служити Тілу Христовому, що перебуває в Українській Православній Церкві в Канаді!
