With the blessing of Metropolitan Ilarion, a nationwide initiative of evangelization, is being undertaken.
These initiatives are aimed at: Ukrainians who are newly arrived to Canada, those members of the UOCC who were born in Canada, as well as those who were previously not Orthodox, and are coming to the faith through the parishes of the UOCC.
This initiative will take on the following forms:
For those newly arrived to Canada, there are these following opportunities to deepen their formation in the Orthodox Faith.
“Online Bible Study Meetings”.
One of such initiatives is Bible lectures, which will be held online every Thursday on the Google Meet platform at 8:00 p.m. Toronto time. The lectures will be conducted by Fr. Myroslaw Shmyhelskyy. The meetings are designed for newly arrived Ukrainians who wish to learn more about the Holy Scriptures in Ukrainian and to reflect together on how the biblical word sounds for a person today. We invite you to join us at the link: https://meet.google.com/abr-tyxs-gda.
Video blog “Church: History and Faith”.
Another initiative for believers will be a series of short educational videos. They will examine various aspects of the history and traditions of the Church, the features of the formation and development of individual church holidays, their theological content and significance for a modern Christian. The videos will be prepared by Dr. Andriy Tsebenko, professor at St. Andrew’s College. The first few videos are already available on the Dr. Tsebenko YouTube channel. To view, please follow the link: https://youtube.com/@dr.tsebenko?si=tmlMpR1D27ZZY9vR.
For those members of the UOCC, who were born in Canada:
Fr. Vasyl Maskal and Fr. Vasyl Kobrii will provide a series of short videos over social media platforms to explain various aspects of the Orthodox Faith. The first of which will be made available in the near future.
For Catechumens:
Fr. Dr. Timothy Chrapko and Fr. Chad Pawlyshyn will hold live sessions over Zoom for those in just discovering the Orthodox Faith, and those who are taking steps to be received into the Orthodox faith through the Catechumenate. These session will be held once a month on Tuesday evening. The link for these sessions will be made available by contacting Fr. Timothy at [email protected].
We invite you to join us, listen, watch, reflect, and discover for yourself the richness of the faith that the Church transmits through generations.
